ESET has a solid anti-malware engine, useful firewall settings, a password manager with form filling capabilities and browser protection and a range of network security tools. Its parental controls and secure browser as well as anti-theft tools are all good but not outstanding. It does not offer a VPN or microphone protection, but it does provide remote screen recording or camera access to check what a burglar has been up to on your mobile or laptop.
The application has a well designed interface that is easy to comprehend and use by novices, but also has details and advanced features for those who require it. The company provides excellent customer service that is accessible through their website or from the client directly via the “support” button located at the bottom of every app.
We loved the fact that ESET Internet Security shows you the way it’s protecting your computer by showing a status bar near the top of the screen and also provides comprehensive protection information. The software will inform you on your desktop, in the vicinity of the system tray, when something is happening on your computer.
The antivirus’s antiphishing tools were overly vigilant and blocked a variety of websites that I trusted but weren’t on PhishTank. In addition, when we plugged a USB storage device into our laptop the software automatically scans it which was a bit irritating since most other antivirus programs request permission to scan the device.
